Aries Full Moon: Courage, Clarity, & Power
The Full Moon in Aries on October 6th comes with a bold and energizing force that encourages us to step into our courage and authority. Ruled by Mars, the planet of action and determination, this lunation highlights themes of independence, self-expression, and taking decisive steps forward. Mars is in Scorpio—its own sign—at the time of this Full Moon, which deepens the energy, allowing us to connect with our inner power and transform challenges into opportunities. In the video below, I’ll walk you through the chart, exploring what this means and how this energy might unfold in your life.
A key feature of this Full Moon is its connection to Jupiter in Cancer, a placement where Jupiter is exalted and functions exceptionally well. Jupiter’s expansive, supportive energy flows harmoniously to the Moon, amplifying confidence and optimism. Venus, the other benefic planet, also lends her support, smoothing out the intensity of Aries energy with a touch of harmony and sweetness. I’ll also discuss the Tarot card tied to this lunation—the Three of Wands—which reflects themes of standing in your light, envisioning the future, and claiming your space with confidence.
This lunation may have a stronger impact on you if you have planets or points in the cardinal signs—Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn—especially in the middle degrees. For instance, if this Full Moon falls in your first and seventh houses, it could bring clarity to personal identity and relationships. If it activates your fourth and tenth houses, you may experience shifts involving home, family, career, or public life. In the video, I’ll guide you through how this Full Moon will affect each rising sign, so you can better understand its influence in your life. If you’d like to see your birth chart and understand what your rising sign is, I have a YouTube video that shows you how to pull up your birth chart online. If you’d like to explore how this lunation impacts your unique birth chart in greater detail, feel free to contact me for a reading.

Transcript (Revised and Expanded)
On October 6th, we have a Full Moon in the sign of Aries, and that is powerful. It carries an energy that may help us step more fully into our own authority and autonomy. I say this because Mars rules this lunation—the Full Moon is in Aries, Mars rules Aries, and Mars is in a good position this month, being in Scorpio, the other sign it rules.
I also mention this because of the Tarot card associated with this Full Moon: the Three of Wands. On top of that, there’s some nice energy in the background, with the two more positive planets, Jupiter and Venus, connecting to each other, as well as Jupiter connecting to this lunation itself. So, there’s a lot to talk about.
If you enjoy the video, please like and subscribe—it helps grow my channel. This is a Jupiter year for me. Jupiter is about growth and teaching, and you’ll notice in my videos that I’ve been working more and more on breaking down the basics for people. As I teach and do more talks at the local astrology meetup, I’ve realized how important it is to break things down in a logical way so people can follow along, because astrology is so complex.
Again, I want to take a moment to teach you step by step where I get the information I’m sharing. First of all, we start with the fact that this is a Full Moon. A Full Moon occurs about two weeks after a New Moon.
In my last video, I talked about the September 21 Solar Eclipse. Solar Eclipses happen at the New Moon. However, during a solar eclipse, the Sun appears to disappear from the sky, and it carries a quality of karmic correction—this is true of any eclipse. The last new moon occurred at about 29 degrees of Virgo.
Here’s how the lunar cycle works: at the New Moon, a seed is planted. We may not fully understand its significance at the time—especially since the last New Moon was an eclipse. But as the Moon moves through the sky and completes half its cycle, it reaches the Full Moon, directly opposing the Sun. At this point, the Moon is fully illuminated, and we often gain clarity or insight into the meaning of the seed we planted at the New Moon. The Full Moon marks a moment of revelation or deeper understanding within the lunar cycle.
The upcoming Full Moon will occur at 14 degrees Aries on October 6th. Aries energy brings its own distinct qualities to this lunation, and that’s what I want to explore next. Aries is a fire sign, and fire is dynamic, inspiring, and expansive. It wants to spread, light the way, and be free. There’s a spontaneity and boldness to fire energy.
Aries is ruled by Mars, the god of war, but Mars has a wide range of meanings. Yes, it’s associated with aggression and conflict, but it’s also about courage, protection, and taking decisive action. Mars represents the ability to cut through obstacles, to separate, or to defend when needed. It can show up as bravery in the face of challenges or as the drive to assert oneself and claim autonomy.
Aries is a cardinal sign, which means it thrives on starting things. Cardinal signs are initiators—they like to begin, to take action, and to set things in motion. Aries is also tied to the equinox, one of the turning points of the year, and cardinal signs are always associated with these moments of new beginnings. Because of this, a full moon in Aries can signify a moment where we find ourselves being brave, initiating something new, or embodying a fiery, dynamic energy. Since this is a Full Moon, it’s also a time when something comes to fruition or clarity.
This Full Moon might bring us new insights about our ability to be warriors in our own lives—about the courage and boldness we carry within.
When we look at the Tarot card associated with this Full Moon, it adds another layer of meaning. Every 10 degrees, or “decan,” of the zodiac has a corresponding Tarot card, and the second decan of Aries (“Aries II”)—where this Full Moon occurs—is represented by the Three of Wands.
If we look at the imagery of the card, we see a figure standing their ground while gazing into the distance, suggesting both confidence and anticipation. The number three in Tarot signifies growth, expansion, and the first stages of manifestation—moments where potential begins to take form. There’s an openness in this card, a sense of being centered in oneself while allowing fiery energy and inspiration to flow outward. The figure’s stance reflects groundedness and readiness, a reminder to stay rooted in your own power while keeping your vision fixed on the horizon. This card encourages us to step into our light, trust in our inner authority, and take bold, deliberate steps forward. It’s not just about action; it’s about inspired action that aligns with your deepest sense of purpose.
Two of Pentacles, Three of Pentacles, Rider-Waite Tarot
To fully understand the Three of Wands, we can compare it to the card that comes before it, the Two of Wands, which corresponds to the first decan of Aries, “Aries I.” In the tarot card we see Alexander the Great holding the world in his hands, there is a sense of conquering the world, standing apart from it. Mars rules Aries and it also rules this particular 10 degrees of Aries under the Chaldean Order and the triplicity system—so we have a Mars-Mars-Mars energy for this 10 degrees. Aries I is the very first 10 degrees of the zodiac. The energy is about breaking into the world, establishing yourself, announcing “I am here!” Think of the new-born baby’s first wail.
In contrast, with Aries II, the focus shifts. This decan corresponds to the Three of Wands. Now, instead of just breaking into the world, the figure on the card has entered the world, he occupies the three-dimensional space of reality rather than stands apart from it. This is a Sun-Sun decan—it is ruled by the Sun under both the Chaldean Order and Triplicity system of rulership.
As I’ve said many times in my videos, the Sun is the center. All the other planets revolve around the Sun. It represents fire, vitality, and the centering energy that gives life and light to everything else.
So, when we think about this decan of Aries being infused with solar energy and consider the Three of Wands card, we get a sense that this Full Moon might be about standing in our own light. The Sun is about channeling and standing confidently in connection with our inner light—being the ruler of our own domain—the king or queen of our personal world. That’s the energy of this second decan of Aries.
When we look at the chart for this full moon, we see even more confirmation that this lunation is about standing in our power and authenticity. For one, Mars in Scorpio is ruling the Full Moon. Mars rules both Scorpio and Aries, so it’s in a strong position this month, being in its own sign of Scorpio.
As a Scorpio rising, I know this energy well—it’s about digging deep into the chthonic forces that connect us to the raw, primal essence of life. Scorpio energy is not light or surface-level; it takes us into the depths, grappling with life’s most profound questions—life, death, and transformation.
If we think of spirit as entering through the crown chakra, Scorpio energy grounds that spirit, pulling it downward into the body, into the earth, and into life itself. This is where the energy of Kali, the goddess of creation and destruction, comes into play. Kali embodies this grounded yet transformative energy—the fierce, cathartic power of life and death. Like Kundalini energy coiling at the base of the spine, Scorpio channels this force through us, awakening and transforming us from the inside out.
Scorpio doesn’t shy away from the shadow or the uncomfortable truths. It’s an energy that works us over, breaking us down and stripping away what no longer serves us. In doing so, it allows us to rebuild ourselves, stronger, more authentic, and aligned with our true essence. This is the energy of alchemy—where life’s raw material is transformed into something powerful, something golden.
When we combine this with the energy of the second decan of Aries—a Sun-Sun decan—we see that this full moon is about occupying space in an authentic way, standing in our own light, and embracing the fiery boldness that Aries brings.
That’s the essence of this Full Moon: a powerful call to step fully into who we are, with courage, authenticity, and clarity.
When I connect this Full Moon to the last New Moon on September 21 (which was a Solar Eclipse), which served as the seed for this moment, I see the possibility that we may have gained some insight during that time. It might have been challenging, as eclipses often bring a breaking-open kind of energy that forces us to release old ideas.
Now, as we reach the Full Moon, whatever we began to learn during the September 21 Solar Eclipse is coming to fruition. This energy may be supporting us in becoming more confident in who we are. Aries, after all, carries a quality of confidence and being centered in oneself.
The last thing I want to say about this chart—because after this, I’m going to talk about what area of your life it might affect—is about Jupiter and Venus. Jupiter, again—let me quickly change the color of the pen here to highlight this better.
So, I want to point out that Jupiter is in Cancer, and Jupiter is “exalted” in Cancer—that’s why you’ll notice a star next to it. I’ve done a video on exaltation, and I’ll drop a link to it. In short, exaltation means that Jupiter functions exceptionally well in Cancer; it’s held on high. In this chart, Jupiter is connected to Venus. Venus is the other benefic planet. Together, they are considered the two most positive planets in the sky. They’re forming a nice sextile, which adds a touch of sweetness to the energy of this full moon. (YouTube video on “Exaltation”)
On top of that, the Moon in the chart is “applying” to Jupiter—after the moon becomes full, the next contact it makes is with Jupiter. This is significant because it brings additional positive energy to the lunation. The Moon also rules Jupiter in this chart, as Jupiter is in Cancer, which is the Moon’s sign. That’s a bit of an advanced idea, but I wanted to include it for those who are familiar with astrology. If you’d like to explore this further, I’ll also drop a link to my video on rulership or domicile. Additionally, I’m currently teaching a series at the Twin Cities Astrology Meetup on Planetary Dignity, which might be helpful. (YouTube video on Domicile)
Now, let’s shift gears. I want to show you a slide I created for my classes to help people understand the meaning of the different houses in their chart. This is how you can get a feel for which areas of your life might be affected by this Full Moon.
We have 12 houses, each corresponding to a different area of life:
The first house represents self, body, character, and appearance.
The seventh house is about relationships and one-on-one connections, including marriage and partnerships.
The fourth house focuses on home, family, ancestry, and roots.
The tenth house is about your career, public life, and actions in the world.
If you know your rising sign, you can use this information to determine which house this Full Moon falls into in your chart and what themes might be illuminated for you.
For example:
If you’re an Aries rising, Aries rules your first house. This means the Full Moon could bring clarity or a sense of culmination around self-expression, identity, and stepping into your personal authority. It’s a chance to embrace your power and confidence.
If you’re a Taurus rising, this Full Moon will fall in your 12th house. The 12th house is a more complex area of the chart. It’s connected to the unseen, the subconscious, and the collective unconscious. This energy could bring up themes of standing strong when faced with challenges that arise from within or embracing a quieter, more reflective inner life. The 12th house often represents a space for rest, solitude, or inner healing.
If you’re a Gemini rising, this Full Moon will highlight 11th house topics. The 11th house is about friends, friend groups, and organizations—things we do creatively with others. It’s also tied to “collective consciousness.” That’s a complex concept discussed by Carl Jung and other philosophers. It refers to the ways in which certain ideas about who we are come from culture rather than a fixed reality. Culture creates its own reality. That’s a deeper topic, but I’ll leave it there for now.
If you’re a Cancer rising, the Full Moon will fall in your 10th house. The 10th house is about career—but not just career. It’s also about what we do in the world, our karma, and the actions we take in public life. The 10th house is positioned at the top of the chart, representing the daytime portion, with a focus on being out in the world. This could be a moment for you to step more fully into your sense of authority in your public or professional life.
If you’re a Leo rising, the Full Moon will activate your 9th house. The 9th house is connected to philosophy, religion, international travel, astrology, and even lawyers. My chart ruler is in the 9th house, and I’m an astrologer, though I was previously a lawyer, so there’s a personal connection for me here. The 9th house can also involve higher education. People with prominent planets in this area often have multiple degrees or may work as professors. If this is your 9th house, the full moon might bring insight or authority around your philosophy, your sense of meaning in life, or topics like higher education or international matters.
If you’re a Virgo rising, this Full Moon will fall in your 8th house, which is a complex area. The 8th house is associated with death, but not just literal death—it also involves ego death, letting go, and shared resources. Because it’s the second house from the 7th house, it can highlight themes of collaboration and how you receive or manage resources from others. This could be a time to stand in your power in relation to those dynamics.
If you’re a Libra rising, the Full Moon will occur in your 7th house, which is the house of one-on-one relationships. This could encompass business partnerships, therapeutic relationships, or a personal partnership like a marriage.
If you’re a Scorpio rising, like me, this Full Moon will fall in your 6th house. The 6th house, at its core, relates to powerlessness. I always describe it this way because it’s about the effort and service we put into the world, often without immediate recognition. It’s sometimes associated with the “everyday worker” energy—what I call that “Dilbert” kind of work. It also connects to doctors, healers, and anyone providing service. This full moon may highlight themes of service, effort, and grounded work in your life.
If you’re a Sagittarius rising, the Full Moon will light up your 5th house. The 5th house is about children, creativity, and fun. This could be a moment for you to occupy that space with courage, connecting with others around your creative pursuits or stepping confidently into your own sense of joy and self-expression.
If you’re a Capricorn rising, the Full Moon will activate your 4th house, which represents home, family, and ancestry. This may involve something literal, like your physical home, or it could connect to your roots and family dynamics. For example, I’m going to be moving next year, so this kind of energy might bring clarity or decisiveness around home and family-related matters.
If you’re an Aquarius rising, the Full Moon will fall in your 3rd house. The 3rd house can seem straightforward—it’s often associated with communication, siblings, and transportation (like cars). However, I take it a bit deeper and think of it as the house of inner knowing and intuition. The Moon is said to be in her joy in the 3rd house because it’s connected to everyday, lived wisdom. The 3rd house is sometimes called the house of the goddess, as it contrasts with the 9th house, which is about intellectual knowledge or study. The 3rd house, by comparison, represents the wisdom gained through everyday experiences and intuition.
If you’re a Pisces rising, this Full Moon will fall in your 2nd house. The 2nd house is connected to resources—how you bring resources to yourself, how you support yourself, and your sense of value. This could be a powerful time for addressing issues of self-worth and confidence. It might be a moment where you affirm, “I’m strong, I’m capable, and I’m ready to stand in my power.” It could also bring clarity or authority around how you make money or manage your finances.
All houses have a range of meanings, so this is an opportunity for self-reflection to see how this Full Moon’s energy unfolds for you.
I hope that was helpful. I’m feeling a bit energetic today—probably because I had a lot of caffeine! I hope you all enjoyed this. If you did, please like and subscribe. That really helps me as I grow my channel. Feel free to drop any questions in the comments, and I’ll see you all soon!
