Cancer New Moon: Love, Tension, and Transformation

On June 25th, we have a New Moon in the sign of Cancer, bringing an opportunity to nurture emotional connections and plant the seeds for deeper relationships and personal growth. Unlike a Full Moon, which highlights completion and release, a New Moon marks the start of a new cycle—a time to set intentions and focus on what you want to grow. Cancer, a water sign ruled by the Moon, is associated with care, emotional depth, and creating a sense of security.

This New Moon will have the strongest impact on those with planets or points between 0 and 5 degrees of the Cardinal Signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn) or between 0 and 5 degrees of Leo. If you have placements at or near these degrees, you may notice the energy of this lunation showing up more strongly in your life, particularly in areas related to emotions, family, and how you connect with others.

In the video below, I explore the astrological influences surrounding this New Moon, including its aspects with Jupiter, Saturn, and Neptune, as well as the presence of a Yod—a rare configuration that brings unconscious patterns to light. I also share practical insights on how to navigate the mix of supportive and challenging energies this lunation brings.

As always, understanding how this New Moon interacts with your birth chart can help you make the most of its energy. If you’d like to dive deeper into how it might affect you personally, feel free to book a reading with me.

On June 25th, we have a New Moon in the sign of Cancer, which, at first glance, looks beautiful and abundant. But once you dig into the energy, you’ll notice the potential for something unexpected to surface—something that could create a bit of tension. In this video, I’m going to break it all down for you. The New Moon in Cancer is in the very first 10 degrees of the sign, the first Decan. The tarot card associated with this Decan is the Two of Cups. Cups are connected to love, and Cancer is all about nurturing and care. This card reflects a deeply connected kind of love—sometimes symbiotic—like the bond between a mother and child. That’s the energy of this part of Cancer: soft, warm, and nurturing.

Adding to this, we have Jupiter, the planet of abundance and optimism, sitting right next to the New Moon within one degree. Jupiter is exalted in Cancer, meaning it thrives in this sign. It loves the nurturing, mothering energy of Cancer and is all about growth and optimism. At first look, this makes the New Moon seem really positive.

But when you take a deeper look, there’s a Saturn-Neptune square in play. A square brings tension, and this one has Saturn and Neptune in an overcoming position—they’re dominating the energy of the New Moon. Saturn and Neptune are in the early degrees of Aries, bringing the potential for impulsive actions. Aries, ruled by Mars, is about action and starting things, but Saturn—symbolizing restrictions and responsibility—is in its fall in Aries. This weakens Saturn and can push us toward impulsive actions that aren’t well thought out. Neptune adds confusion and may blur boundaries, making it harder to think clearly.

So, while this New Moon has a sweet and nurturing vibe, there’s also a background tension that suggests it might be wise to be mindful of how you interact with others. Cancer is a water sign connected to emotions and connections, so this energy could influence the way we approach and navigate relationships.

Another factor to consider is Uranus, the planet of sudden changes and liberation, which is in a sextile to Mercury. A sextile is a supportive aspect, and this connection with Mercury could bring sudden news, communication, or even surprising ideas. Mercury, known as the god of communication in mythology, rules over things like information, messages, and how we share ideas. With Uranus, the planet of the unexpected, in a harmonious aspect to Mercury, there’s potential for things to come out of the blue—new information, sudden announcements, or even breakthroughs in understanding. This energy can feel unpredictable, but it also creates opportunities for clarity or insight, even if it catches you off guard.

Finally, this New Moon is part of a Yod, which is a challenging configuration known as the “finger of God.” A Yod involves three planets: two in a sextile and one in an inconjunct aspect with both. It creates a kind of pressure point that often brings up unconscious material or situations that feel fated. In this case, Pluto—the planet of transformation and the underworld—is at the apex of the Yod, while the New Moon and Jupiter form the base. Pluto’s influence can bring up deep, hidden issues that need to be addressed, especially those tied to unconscious emotions or patterns.

Putting all of this together, there’s potential for sweetness and connection with this New Moon, especially in relationships. But there’s also a need to adapt, as some struggles or unexpected events might come up. If things get tense, remember to give yourself and others some grace. Some of what’s coming up might be rooted in the unconscious, and it needs time and care to work through.

This is where the energy of Jupiter conjunct the New Moon can really help—holding space for love and understanding. Cancer is all about creating environments where people feel safe and supported, so lean into that energy.

Wishing you the best with this New Moon. If you enjoyed this video, don’t forget to like and subscribe, and I’ll see you at the Full Moon.
