Sag Full Moon: Lighten the Load
On June 11th, we have a Full Moon in the sign of Sagittarius, bringing a culmination of energy and the opportunity to reassess what’s truly worth carrying forward. Unlike a New Moon, which begins a new cycle, a Full Moon shines a spotlight on what has grown and asks us to evaluate whether it’s aligned with our goals and capacity. Sagittarius, a fire sign ruled by Jupiter, is associated with exploration, optimism, and big ideas—but at this point in the lunar cycle, we’re being asked to balance those grand visions with practical realities.
This Full Moon occurs at 20 degrees of Sagittarius, meaning it will have the greatest impact on those with planets or points (ASC, DSC, MC, IC) near 20 degrees of the Mutable Signs: Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces. If you have key placements at or near these degrees, you may feel this lunation more strongly, particularly in areas related to growth, responsibility, and the balance between ambition and practicality.
In the video below, I explore the energy of this Sag Full Moon in greater depth, unpack its astrological context, and share insights on how to work with its themes. Understanding how this lunation lines up with your birth chart can give you a clearer sense of what it means for you personally. On June 11th, we have a full moon in the sign of Sagittarius. It has a heavy quality, calling us to reflect on the intentions we set or projects we may have started with the new moon around May 26th. It may be time to cut back on those if they don’t fit with our practical capacity. There’s a lot to unpack with this full moon, and I’ll go into more detail in an upcoming video. The full moon on June 11th is in the third decan, the last 10 degrees of Sagittarius. Sagittarius is a fire sign ruled by Jupiter. Fire signs are about inspiration, and Jupiter is a planet of optimism, abundance, expansion, faith, and big ideas. When Jupiter is in a fire sign or rules a fire sign like Sagittarius, it brings a quality of the quest. Sagittarius is the archer, aiming an arrow into space and preparing to move forward into a new, big idea.
However, when we reach the last decan of Sagittarius, the quest can feel tiring. There’s a heavy quality here, as seen in the tarot card, the Ten of Wands. The man in the card has taken on a lot and is trying to finish his quest. The question becomes: What is possible, and what is not?

Rachel Pollack, in her book 78 Degrees of Wisdom, explains that the Ten of Wands symbolizes responsibility and burdens that have accumulated through ambition or success. The figure in the card is carrying a heavy load, but it’s important to ask whether these burdens truly align with his purpose—or if he has taken on too much, losing sight of the joy and inspiration that began the journey. Pollack also suggests that this card can represent a sense of being overwhelmed by external expectations or societal pressures, requiring us to pause and reassess what truly matters.
This decan is ruled not only by Jupiter—since the entire sign is ruled by Jupiter—but also by Saturn and the Sun, according to the Triplicity and Chaldean orders. Saturn, as we know, is a planet of restrictions and limitations. In the card, you can see boundaries, practicality, and the real-world challenges our person is facing. Pollack notes that the Ten of Wands can also remind us that while we may feel constrained, we always have the power to prioritize, delegate, or let go of unnecessary burdens.
If you set intentions back on May 26th or started something new, now, at the full moon, you’ve reached the culmination of the cycle. It’s time to refine and decide what you can realistically achieve and what may be too difficult. I’ll also show you the Thoth Tarot deck card, which is called "Oppression." It reinforces the heaviness of this phase. You can see Saturn in the background of that card.

Another reason this full moon may ask us to revise and reassess whether we’ve taken on too much is the influence of Saturn and Neptune in both the new moon chart and this full moon chart. Saturn and Neptune are now at the very beginning of Aries. In the new moon chart, they were in a sextile to the new moon. Aries is a fire sign, and Saturn doesn’t do well in Aries—it can become impulsive. Neptune, on the other hand, is about illusions and dreams. So, at the new moon, we might have felt inspired by a dream due to the supportive, flowing energy suggesting we could restructure how we think about the world.
I mention this because the new moon was in Gemini, which, at its early degrees, is about putting big ideas into action. Additionally, Pluto was in a trine to the new moon. Pluto always brings transformation, so the new moon carried a lot of energy around change, asking, “What can I shake up? What am I being supported in changing?”
Now, at the full moon, we’re in the challenging last decan of Sagittarius. This phase asks us to be responsible and realistic about what we can and cannot accomplish. In this full moon chart, in addition to the moon being in the last 10 degrees of Sagittarius, we still see Saturn and Neptune at the beginning of Aries. They’re in a square to Jupiter, which has entered Cancer, and Mercury. Jupiter rules this lunation because it rules Sagittarius.
When I analyze June 11’s Full Moon chart, I see the shift from the new moon’s harmonious energy to the full moon’s square energy. Squares require us to adapt and slow down, asking us to reconcile that dreamy quality with what’s realistically possible.
I hope this was helpful to you. Again, like and subscribe if you enjoyed the video. I’ll see you at the next new moon, which is on June 25th, I think. Have a great day!
