Learn the ABC’s of astrology with Cathy’s 6-part course, designed to give you the foundational skills needed for a simple birth chart reading. Each 90-minute class focuses on a key component of the birth chart, including Planets, Signs, Houses, and Aspects.

Throughout the course, you’ll deepen your understanding through Chart Practice, where we apply these concepts to real-life birth charts—exploring charts of celebrities and others. By reviewing, repeating, and hands-on practice, you’ll slowly gain the knowledge you need to understand your birth chart.

This lecture speaks to the deeper meaning of Mercury and Venus in your birth chart. We are all familiar with the basic meanings of Mercury and Venus in our chart.  Mercury/Hermes was the fleet-footed messenger of the gods who loved to play a trick or two and can represent how we communicate, our business acumen, or where we might play the trickster for our advantage. Venus is the goddess of love, beauty, relationality, women, and justice.

But did you know Mercury and Venus have widely different meanings in your chart depending on their connection with the Sun on the day you were born? Have you heard of Mercury Promethean and Mercury Epimetheian? Of Venus Lucifer and Venus Hesperus? 

Cathy first describes the nuts and bolts of the astronomy of the Solar Phase cycles. Then, weaving in the scholarly work of Demetra George, Dane Rudhyar and others, she explores the symbolic meaning of Mercury and Venus in their various stages of the synodic cycle.
